The Carnarvon Arms is a world away from the daily grind of City life, and yet just five minutes from the M4. The surrounding countryside is so timeless and beautiful that it is home to Downton Abbey, and the inspiration for Robert Adams’ classic Watership Down.

We have always played host to those travelling to and from this stunning part of the Wessex Downs; and now this traditional English coaching house has been lovingly and sympathetically restored and refurbished back to its former glory. The 18 individually designed rooms have all the facilities you would expect of a contemporary hotel within the period setting of this grade II listed building and grounds.

Business and leisure travellers alike will find the log fires, oak beams and vaulted ceilings the perfect compliment to the unpretentious, fresh locally sourced food and carefully selected real ales and wine.

We are open all day every day, serving breakfast, lunch, high teas, and dinner, including sandwiches, sharing platters and pizzas. We welcome parties of all sizes; from intimate business meetings to coach parties The Carnarvon Arms will make the perfect location to make your day that little bit special.
